What is Hypnobirthing?
At its core, Hypnobirthing aims to address anxiety and fear by deepening your understanding of the normal functionality and rhymthms of the birthing body, fostering trust and connection between the birthing person and their support team and employing various relaxation and self-hypnosis methods, to promote a relaxed state of body and mind during labour. Inspired by Grantly Dick-Read's work, the method targets the "Fear-Tension-Pain syndrome," with self hypnosis aiding in breaking this cycle.
Hypnobirthing utilizes antenatal education, self-hypnosis, relaxation, massage, and breathing techniques to empower individuals in overcoming fear or tension surrounding childbirth.
The power of suggestion is central to Hypnobirthing, as positive affirmations, meditation, and visualizations guide individuals in relaxing their bodies, directing their thoughts, and controlling breathing, so that they may work with their bodies and babies during birth.

Foundations Of Hypnobirthing
Hypnobirthing draws inspiration from the work of Grantly Dick-Read, a visionary obstetrician who believed in the innate ability of women to birth without fear. His book, "Childbirth Without Fear," laid the foundation for understanding how fear can impact the birthing process. Dick-Read introduced the Fear-Tension-Pain Syndrome, highlighting how fear triggers tension and a cascade of primal physiological changes, which can lead to increased pain, resistance and length of labour.
Hypnobirthing interrupts this cycle by alleviating fear through knowledge, relaxation and comforting techniques and support, ultimately reducing tension, optimising physiology and increasing your capacity to work with the sensations occuring during birth.
